Eccoci con il terzo e ultimo appuntamento della nostra rubrica di Natale. Oggi vi parleremo dell’albero in piazza Duomo. L’accensione dell’albero di Natale in piazza Duomo è uno dei momenti più attesi dai milanesi durante il periodo natalizio. Quest’anno la cerimonia presieduta dal Sindaco Beppe Sala si è tenuta il 6 dicembre, dando il via ai due giorni di festa per Sant’Ambrogio e l’Immacolata. Alla cerimonia era presente il sindaco Giuseppe Sala. Già nei giorni precedenti all’evento, attraversando la piazza si poteva avere un’anticipazione dell’allestimento. Si tratta di un abete green e sostenibile, il suo nome, Imagine, vuole rappresentare un invito a guardare al futuro con serenità, come dichiarato da Giuseppe Amitrano, amministratore delegato di GVA Redilco, & Sigest, sponsor di quest’anno. L’abete è alto circa 24 metri ed è lombardo, arriva da Cittiglio in provincia di Varese. E’ illuminato da 80mila luci led a basso consumo, 60 fiocchi e circa 800 palline di Natale. I colori degli addobbi sono il rosso e l’argento. Finito il Natale, il legno dell’abete sarà riutilizzato a beneficio della città, proprio in funzione della sostenibilità ambientale. ‘Imagine’ non è l’unico albero nel capoluogo lombardo, ne sono presenti altri nelle piazze più importanti della città: infatti, ce ne sono almeno otto ufficiali.

Here we are with our last post for our Christmas online column. Today we are going to talk about the Christmas tree in Piazza Duomo. The lighting of the Christmas tree in Piazza Duomo is one of the most awaited moments of the festive season in Milan. This year the tree lighting ceremony took place on the 6th December, giving way to the two days of festivities for St Ambrose and Immaculate Conception. The mayor Giuseppe Sala attended the ceremony. In the days leading up to the event, passing by the Duomo one could get a glimpse of the setting-up of the tree. The chosen tree is a sustainable fir tree and its name, Imagine, is an invitation to look to the future with serenity, as stated by Giuseppe Amitrano, the CEO of the Italian firm GVA Redilco & Sigest, which is the sponsor of the tree. The fir tree is about 24 metres tall and comes from Cittiglio in the province of Varese. It is lit by 80,000 low-consumption LED lights, 60 bows and 800 Christmas balls. The colours of the decorations are red and silver. Once Christmas is over, the wood from the fir tree will be reused to benefit the city. ‘Imagine’ is not the only tree in Milan: as a matter of fact, there are at least eight official trees in the city.
